Unlike the traditional version, this translation of the Lord’s Prayer really resonates with me and feels more in alignment with my understanding SPIRIT/Universe/All That Is. I hope you will find it inspiring.
The Lord’s Prayer
Translated by Mark Hathaway directly from Aramaic into English
(rather than the traditional translation method of Aramaic into Greek, Greek into Latin and then finally Latin into English!)
O Cosmic birther of all radiance and vibration!
Soften the ground of our being and carve out a space within us
where your presence can abide.
Fill us with your creativity so that we may be empowered to
bear the fruit of your mission.
Let each of our actions bear fruit in accordance with our desire.
Endow us with wisdom to produce and share
what each being needs to grow and flourish.
Untie the tangled threads of destiny that bind us,
as we release others from the entanglement of past mistakes.
Do not let us be seduced by that which would divert us from our true purpose
but illuminate the opportunities of the present moment.
For you are the ground and the fruitful vision, the birth power and fulfilment
as all is gathered and made whole once again.
What is the source for this Linda?
I was given this translation many years ago by a very dear friend of mine who has long since transitioned.
This is info I found on the web about the translator:
Mark Hathaway is an author, web designer, and freelance “ecologian” studying the inter-relationships between ecology, economics, spirituality, and cosmology.
Those interested in learning more about the Aramaic version of Jesus’ sayings should read Prayers of the Cosmos by Neil Douglas-Klotz (Harper and Row, 1990).
Truly inspirational for the novice Christians in my life!! Reawakens my own Creator-given energy! Jan Youngman
